About the role:
Reporting to the Manager Events your duties will include but not limited:
Be the first contact to provide advanced, out of hospital emergency and non-emergency care to the community during St John (NSW) involved events
Work collaboratively as part of a team of event health responders to provide quality patient centred care to members of the public
Work as part of a response to emergency and non-emergency incidents during St John (NSW) involved events, making significant clinical decisions in varied and complex environments to provide clinical treatment and life-saving stabilisation to injured persons
Conduct thorough patient assessments and obtaining all information necessary to make appropriate clinical decisions consistent with the nature of the situation to manage patients, carers and relatives in distress
Provide quality record keeping for current patient care
Manage time and priorities effectively on shifts given the multiple stakeholder demand
Recognise and manage personal stress and stress in colleagues given the nature of the position and the situations that may impact on it.
Provide appropriate support to patients and their families who may be experiencing loss and grief
Maintaining clinical and operational standards through ongoing self-directed learning and St John (NSW) standards and practice.
Operate medical equipment and implement medical procedures to provide patient care and treatment in an out of hospital environment consistent with scope of practice
Maintain all equipment and vehicles in a state of readiness
Acknowledge and conform to St John (NSW) policies and procedures at all times
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
·Current Certificate to Practice at Intensive Care Paramedic Level
·Excellent driving record
·Demonstrated experienced in a paramedical setting
·High standard of clinical care and knowledge to provide effective out of hospital patient care in diverse situations
·Clinical reasoning, analytical and problem solving skills to assess patients' needs and review patient situation and history to determine best possible course of action
·Planning and organisation skills to effectively manage own time and prioritise workload whilst on shift
Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment to support the completion of team goals to ensure the continuity of patient care at St John (NSW0 involved events
Integrity, empathy and respect for ethical and professional standards including patient confidentiality and diplomacy when dealing with sensitive matters
Demonstrated medical and physical fitness as determine by St John (NSW) to undertake all duties of the role
