Job description
Location: Morecambe Bay area which covers-Ambleside, Barrow, Grange, Kendal, Lancaster, Millom, Morecambe, Sedbergh, Ulverston.
Unfortunately, we will be unable to action any transfer requests until you have completed 12 months in post.
Full Time positions, working on a 7 day rota with a mixture of late and early shifts, actual working hours will be confirmed on appointment.
The Trust is looking to recruit a number of Emergency Medical Technician 1’s to assist in the delivery of high quality and effective pre-hospital clinical care and patient transportation. The successful post holders will be required to respond to 999 emergencies, undertake inter-hospital transfers, urgent hospital admissions and other allocated patient interventions.
The successful candidate will be required to drive under blue light conditions to respond to and transport emergency and routine calls as required.
Working as part of a crew or solo, you will initiate appropriate care and effective treatment to patients in both a hospital and pre-hospital environment, selecting and applying appropriate skills and equipment safely and within appropriate level of training, competency and scope of practice.
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 4 GCSEs (or equivalent qualifications at Grade C or above one of which must be English, Maths or science related) or have relevant experience working in a similar role within the Trust. It is also essential to be able to demonstrate in the application form and at interview relevant experience, working in a patient care/support role, in addition to experience of delivering excellent customer service, both of which are important aspects of the role.
The post holder will have a proven ability to prioritise their workload and be able to meet deadlines whilst dealing with the challenge of working in a pressurised environment. You will be able to demonstrate your ability to use your initiative whilst working unsupervised and as part of a team.
You will hold a valid EU driving licence with no more than 3 endorsement points (in exceptional circumstances a maximum of 6 points may be considered) and have the C1 category either in full or provisionally (those with C1 provisional would be required to obtain this in full prior to commencement on the training course, in addition you would be expected to undertake this training via ‘Truck Training’ the trust’s preferred supplier. The trust would fund the initial cost and then the total amount would be reclaimed from your salary over a period of 12 months.)
Successful candidates would be required to attend a 9 week training course at a designated training centre.
