Paramedic Pathfinder Project Implementation Manager ,Ladybridge Hall

The North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) was established on 1 July 2006 following the merger of four Trusts covering Cumbria, Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Mersey Region. The Trust provides services to approximately 7 million people in an area of 5,500 square miles, which incorporates widely varying demography, topography and health needs throughout the region. The Trust has a budget of £215 million, currently operates from 114 ambulance stations and employs around 4,800 staff.

This position is offered as a fixed term/secondment opportunity until 31 March 2013; with a potential view permanency in the future

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic candidate to manage the implementation of Paramedic Pathfinder and other Clinical Care Pathways for patients accessing emergency ambulance services across the NHS North West region.

The successful candidate will manage a dedicated team to ensure a consistent approach to Pathfinder utilisation and high standard of implementation. This role will require the candidate to work with PCT Community Teams, Acute Trusts, Clinical Commission Groups, PCT Clusters, and the Lead Ambulance Commissioners to develop Pathfinder as part of a “whole system” approach to integrating emergency and urgent care across the Health Economy.

The post holder will ensure that implementation of Pathfinder and Community Pathways reflects the needs of local health economies and ensure that these pathways are consistent with commissioner aims and provider service capacity. The Implementation Manager will ensure that Pathfinder and resulting pathways of care are embedded in to day to day practice and understood across the organisation as necessary. The role will also assist in the development of Pathfinder within NWAS NHS Trust, including CPIs, Audit and Evaluation, and further clinical development of alternative pathway strategies.

The successful candidate will be based at Ladybridge Hall, Bolton with a requirement to work across the North West.
