The North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) was established on 1 July 2006 following the merger of four Trusts covering Cumbria, Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Mersey Region. ADVANCED PARAMEDIC POSTS – GREATER MANCHESTER AREA
A vacancy has arisen within the Greater Manchester area for a permanent Advanced Paramedic post, along with the possibility of secondment/development opportunities. Locations will be confirmed after interview.
We are looking for clinical leaders who have the drive and ambition to develop services for patients and to support the clinical workforce within NWAS. This exciting and challenging role is open to Senior Paramedics and Paramedics who have experience in clinical leadership roles and can demonstrate leadership ability and high standards of clinical practice.
You will be responsible for the management, supervision and development of a team of senior paramedics and when attending patients/scenes will be the lead clinician with overall responsibility of the care provided to patients. You will be required to provide both face to face and remote advice to clinicians especially in relation to “respond not conveyed” and capacity to consent together with clinical supervision and support to the Emergency Operations Centre. You will ensure clinical standards are maintained through the monitoring of clinical performance and safety indicators. You will provide CPD and education to your team and lead on the local implementation of service development and modernisation plans such as new care pathways or changes to clinical practice.
Open to any HCPC registered paramedic with an exemplary professional record. Applicants must possess a minimum of 5 years post registration experience as at 2nd February 2016, hold a DipHe in a relevant Paramedic practice subject; demonstrate competency in a clinical leadership role; and be able to evidence relevant and in-depth CPD and demonstrate a commitment to study at Masters Level.
There will be a range of ability tests used as part of the selection process, these include:
Stage 1 - on-line psychometric assessment. These tests will be used to draw up a merit list of candidates based on ranking and to select the appropriate number to progress to the next stage
Stage 2 - clinical paper. This test will again be used to draw up a merit list to select the appropriate number of applicants to progress to interview
Stage 3 – OSCE style clinical assessment and interview.
The roster has a mix of 12, 10 and 8 hours shifts and will attract an unsocial hour’s payment of 21%. Previous applicants can reapply however all applicants will be required to complete all stages of the process.
