West Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting to Student Paramedic training programmes leading to registration as a Paramedic with the Health & Care Professions Council.
This exciting opportunity will enable successful applicants to receive a salary whilst funding the training and university course fees, throughout the duration of the fixed term programme as well as the completion of a recognised qualification via one of our partner Higher Educational Institutions.
Salary Information
SP Level One: £16,512 per annum (approx. 3 months)
SP Level Two: £16,512 per annum (approx. 9 months)
SP Level Three: £18,838 per annum (approx. 10 months)
SP Level Four: £18,838 per annum (32 week university programme)
The above salaries are before deductions of £300 per month to cover programme and university course fees which will be taken directly from your salary.
You will further receive an unsocial hours payment of 21% throughout the duration of the contract to compensate you for undertaking operational duties on a rostered shift, that includes evenings and weekends working.
Please note that the tutor / lecturer delivered educational courses are mainly Monday to Friday and when completing operational shifts successful post holders will be required to work full rotational shift patterns including days, nights, weekends, bank holidays and public holidays.
The programme will consist of an initial 11 week training programme delivered by our Education & Training Department giving you the skills to then consolidate this knowledge by working operationally for up to 12 months. Following successful completion of this Part One: training, you will commence onto Part Two: a 32 week University based Paramedic education programme.
Following successful completion of the training contract, Student Paramedics will be able to apply to the Trust and undergo the relevant selection assessments to obtain a substantive post as a Registered Paramedic (subject to availability).
Our vibrant organisation is looking for applicants who hold a minimum of 5 GCSEs (inc. English, Maths & Science) plus an A – Level qualification or equivalent and successful applicants must demonstrate a passion to deliver excellent patient care.
Applicants must hold a full UK driving licence with Provisional Category C1 entitlement with no more than 3 points. Evidence of your provisional C1 will be required at Stage 2 of the selection process and all applicants must obtain their Full Category C1 no later than one week prior to allocated start date. The Trust will support you to complete your C1 following a job offer.
