Student Paramedic
30 month fixed term training contract

West Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting to a 30 month Student Paramedic training programme leading to registration as a Paramedic with the Health & Care Professions Council.

This exciting opportunity will enable successful applicants to receive a salary whilst funding the training and university course fees, throughout the duration of the fixed term programme as well as the completion of a recognised qualification via one of our partner Higher Educational Institutions.

Salary Information
SP Level One: £16,348.50 per annum (approx. 12 months)
SP Level Two: £18,652 per annum (approx. 10 months)
SP Level Three: £18,652 per annum (32 week university programme)

The above salaries are before deductions of approximately £300 per month to cover programme and university course fees.

You will further receive an unsocial hours payment of up to 25% that would be payable when undertaking operational duties on a rostered shift, that includes evenings and weekends working.

The programme will consist of an initial 11 week training programme delivered by our Education & Training Department giving you the skills to then consolidate this knowledge by working operationally for up to 12 months. Following successful completion of this Part One: training, you will commence onto Part Two: a 32 week University based Paramedic education programme. .

Student Paramedics will make a salary contribution each month towards the costs of the training programme and this will be taken directly from your monthly pay.

Following successful completion of the 30 month training contract, Student Paramedics will be able to apply to the Trust and undergo the relevant selection assessments to obtain a substantive post as a Registered Paramedic (subject to availability).

Our vibrant organisation is looking for applicants who hold a minimum of 5 GCSEs (inc. English, Maths & Science) plus an A – Level qualification or equivalent and successful applicants must demonstrate a passion to deliver excellent patient care.

Applicants must hold a full UK driving licence with no more than 3 points. Funding to complete Category C1 is available.
