As the frontline of the NHS in Scotland, we provide an emergency Ambulance Service to a population of over 5 million people serving all of the nation’s mainland and island communities. On average, our crews respond to more than 500,000 emergency incidents every year. We operate around 450 emergency ambulance vehicles from more than 100 ambulance stations.
We are looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic individuals, Qualified to Paramedic or Technician grade including a recognised Emergency Driving qualification. These individuals must be confident in their ability to work on their own initiative and under pressure, whilst also being a pro-active member of the team. You will respond to critical emergency and urgent situations, deliver high quality and effective pre-hospital clinical care and transport patients safely.Working as a crew, you will initiate appropriate care and effective treatment to patients in both hospital and pre-hospital environments, selecting and applying appropriate clinical skills and equipment safely and within appropriate levels of training, competency and scope of practice. Individuals will also have to display confidence and effectiveness in making decisions and be able to demonstrate a professional approach along with excellent clinical skills.
The vacancies exist in various locations some of which are rural and will involve you becoming a valued member of the community. Some of these posts are Relief positions and many require a commitment to providing out of hours on call. Therefore, it would be necessary to reside within 3 miles of any of the on call stations.
